This wild material was sourced from a special location that has many garnets, with gold added for EXTRA FUN. This is a bag of Garnet rich sand that may be picked through to get the garnets before or after all of the Gold has been panned out.  There are usually around 2 1 oz. vials of Garnets from each bag.

Other options include a kit with sand and tools, also comes in a version with just garnet sands 

Garnet is the birthstone for January The word "garnet" comes from the Latin word granatus, which means "seed-like"

Garnet is a semi-precious mineral that comes in many colors and is used as a gemstone. It's also used for grinding, smoothing, and polishing.            

What it looks like:    Garnets are usually small, rounded crystals that resemble pomegranate seeds  They can be red, brown, yellow, orange, white, green, black, or shades in between our garnets are a deep purple to burgundy      

What it's made of:     Garnets are complex minerals with the general chemical formula \(RR(SiO_{4})\) The metal \(R\) can be calcium (\(Ca\)), magnesium (\(Mg\)), ferrous iron (\(Fe\)), manganese (\(Mn\)), aluminum (\(Al\)), ferric iron (\(Fe\)), or chromium (\(Cr\))       

Where it's found:     Garnets are found in metamorphic, igneous, and sedimentary rocks all over the world They're also found in subsurface magma chambers, lava flows, and deep-source volcanic eruptions
